WHY CHOOSE ME FOR COUNSELLING

I am Relate trained with several years experience working for Relate as a Couples Counsellor, Relationship Therapist and as a specialist Psychosexual (Sex) Therapist although no longer work as a Psychosexual Therapist. I am qualified to Post Graduate Diploma level both as a Relationship Counsellor and Psychosexual (Sex) Therapist with experience to date working at Relate, the NHS Substance Misuse team, a Local Authority Domestic Violence team and in my own private practice. My Professional Body is the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists ( cosrt ) and I am a Associate Member of this organisation.

I have worked for Relate in East Yorkshire for several years practicing as a Relationship and Couples Counsellor and a Psychosexual (Sex) Therapist. I also delivered therapy to patients referred by their GP for anxiety, depression and panic attacks.

I also worked for the NHS for ten years until 2014 for the Community Mental Health Team, but specialising as a Senior Practitioner within the Substance Misuse Team working therapeutically with patients presenting with alcohol and substance misuse addictions.
I implemented Behavioural Couples Therapy and delivered it to patients whilst working in this team.

It was whilst working for the Substance Misuse Team that I learnt and developed my practice working with patients to address their addictions to illicit drugs, prescribed drugs and to alcohol. This decade of experience coupled with ongoing Professional Development and a Post Graduate Diploma from Hull University in Psychosexual Therapy gave me an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the route causes of addiction and the theories, tools, strategies and therapeutic skills to help people to overcome addictive behaviours. I now use my knowledge to assist many clients who present with sex addiction and porn addiction problems.

I hold a Diploma in Drug and Alcohol Counselling and I am qualified to deliver Behavioural Couples Therapy as recognised in NICE Guidelines and used within the NHS to address drug and alcohol problems within relationships. I am a practitioner in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which is very effective in treating anxiety and depression.

At present I have a contract with a Local Authority employed as an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate ( IDVA ). I work within a multi-agency environment, but focus on ensuring the safety of high risk domestic abuse/violence clients and any children where applicable.

I deliver therapy and counselling from my home based office in Cusworth, Doncaster. NB. There is off street parking available and toilet facilities:
